According to reports, on May 29, 2014, six tire manufacturers were accused of establishing cartel monopoly alliances in Indonesia and each faced a fine of US$2.1 million.
The above six companies include Bridgestone , Goodyear and Sumitomo Rubber 's subsidiaries in Indonesia, and the other three are GajahTunggal, ElangPerdanaTyreIndustry and IndustryKaretDeli, all of which are members of the Indonesian Tire Manufacturers Association (APBI).
Muhammad Reza, head of the Public Relations and Regulations Department of the Indonesian Commercial Competition Supervision Committee (KPPU), said that the first trial against the above six tire companies had already been held on May 20. These companies were accused of violating the anti-monopoly law and each of them will need to turn over. $2.1 million in fines.
Muhammad Reza stated that from 2009 to 2012, six tire manufacturers were involved in transactions concerning the price of manipulating tires and production and sales operations, and these transactions were reached at a meeting of APBI. According to the results of the meeting, APBI members were required to submit their own production, sales and export business reports, and were also required to control supply in order to maintain the stability of tire prices.
