Sino-Norwegian two major classification societies joint venture research institute established

Recently, Shanghai Sino-Norway Maritime Technology Co., Ltd., a joint venture established by China Classification Society (CCS) and the Norwegian Classification Society (DNV), was established in Shanghai. This is committed to the cooperation between China's shipbuilding industry and marine engineering. The project marks the long-term cooperation between the two classification societies of China and Norway into the new stage of ship technology research and development.

As early as January this year, in order to further support the development of China's shipbuilding and shipping industry and contribute to the world's maritime industry, CCS and DNV jointly signed an agreement on the establishment of a joint venture technology research institute. After 10 months of preparation, Shanghai Sino-Norway Maritime Technology Co., Ltd. was grandly opened.

Shanghai Sino-Norway Maritime Technology Co., Ltd. is the first research institute in China in this field. Previously, only Japan and Norway had such laboratories. The first phase of the Institute's work is to conduct coating experiments on the International Maritime Organization's "Performance Standards for Ships' Ballast Protective Coatings" and to provide technical and related services to related material suppliers at home and abroad. CCS Chairman and President Li Kezhen said: "The main task of the coating laboratory is to place the experimental sample in the seawater wave cabin according to the relevant requirements and simulate the ship's navigation movement for 180 days, and then observe the application effect of the coating. Identification, issue a test report."

The biggest feature of the laboratory is that the test process is completely set in a virtual ship in the ocean, and the external environment guarantees constant temperature and humidity. This technology is also absolutely leading internationally. According to the introduction of the new company general manager Rong Rongquan, according to the plan, after the coating laboratory is put into use, the institute will expand Phase 2 and Phase 3 development in phases, and further expand its business to a wider field, such as oil analysis and material testing. Wait.

Since the 1970s, the two major classification societies of China and Norway have carried out various forms of cooperation. From the initial cooperation in ship inspection and personnel training, they have successfully expanded to the cooperation of ship technology and R&D today.
