Daimler expects commercial vehicle growth to come mainly from emerging markets

Reuters, Stuttgart, Germany, March 10 reported that a high-level truck manufacturer in Germany, a high-ranking company in Daimler, expects that the commercial vehicle market in developed countries will only slowly pick up, with growth mainly coming from emerging markets.

Andreas Renschler, chief executive of Daimler Trucks (here), told reporters that all of the group's truck division is expected to make a profit this year.

The company said on Wednesday that Daimler’s share of the global truck market fell from 15.2% in 2008 to 11% last year. The company is facing fierce competition from its Chinese counterparts.

Its truck sales fell from nearly 330,000 vehicles in the previous year to nearly 211,000.
