GEA Ballast Water Management System Waits for USCG Official Approval

It is reported that DNV GL has submitted to the USCG the officially approved application materials for the BallastMaster Marinex management system of GE (ship hangar) A ballast water (product warehouse supply), and GEA has become the first batch of ballast water to apply to USCG. One of the manufacturers officially recognized by the management system, and will also be one of the first manufacturers in the world to be officially recognized by the USCG ballast water management system.

The BallastMaster Marinex, a GEA ballast water management system, combines a 32-micron automatic backwash filter (purchased from the product library) with low-pressure, high-efficiency UV to reduce energy consumption and size.

In order to obtain official approval from the USCG, the system completed the complex tests required by the USCG, including:

1. A continuous experiment on board for 6 months;

2. Continuous land-based experiments with various salinities (fresh water, brackish water, seawater);

3. Additional large-flow land-based experiments;

4. Environmental testing of equipment in accordance with USCG requirements;

BallastMaster Marinex test features:

5. Complete the test under the supervision of the independent laboratory DNV approved by USCG. The test is conducted according to US Environmental Protection Agency USEPA and Environmental Technology Certification Body EVT. ETV is the main test requirement for USCG type approval;

6. The test was carried out under the DNV Hundested in Denmark, the DHI maritime technical assessment agency and the training ship Golden Bear, both of which are the USW-approved BWTS test institutions under DNV;

7. Tested according to USCG 46 CFR 162.060 standard, meeting the requirements of 33 CFR 151 C/D emission standards;

8. The test salinity and temperature range are 0.34-35.7 PSU and 3.4-32 ° C. The salinity range includes three waters: freshwater, brackish water and seawater;

9. The test is done in very turbid water. The water transmittance of the test is 44%; (the transmittance of water in Shanghai port is 55%)

It is expected that the GEA ballast water management system BallastMaster Marinex will be one of the first manufacturers in the world to be officially recognized by the USCG ballast water management system.

Engine/Generator Fuel Water Separators

Additional information: Failure caused by oil and water separator problems: A, engine acceleration is not stable, weakness and emissions of black smoke high pressure spray nozzle of high pressure common rail system needs to be precise control of injection pressure, injection time and injection amount, and nozzle work more sophisticated, problems if the oil-water separator, the water in the diesel and impurities on the nozzle plunger matching parts forming wear caused by injury, until the fuel injector. Fuel injector damage will cause engine acceleration instability or weak acceleration, or black smoke emissions and other faults, serious will directly damage the engine. Because the nozzle work is more fine, so its price is relatively high. For the above reasons, when there is a problem with the oil-water separator, it is important to replace it in time. If the oil-water separator is damaged, the water and impurities in the diesel oil will pass the filter device, and then deposit in the intake valve, inlet and cylinder, forming hard carbon over time, and then affecting the work of the engine, which will lead to the destruction of the engine. Three, the engine white smoke oil water separator damage will lead to the engine white smoke, because the water in the fuel will become water vapor when burning, so that there will be white smoke. And the steam in the white smoke will damage the high pressure nozzle, resulting in insufficient engine power, will cause the phenomenon of sudden stop, serious cases will directly damage the engine.
