· Volkswagen recalled 848,000 vehicles in China

On November 14, the State Administration of Quality Supervision issued a recall announcement that Volkswagen will recall 640,000 vehicles due to safety hazards in the transmission synthetic oil. In fact, on the previous day, on November 13, Volkswagen just announced that it had recalled about 208,000 vehicles, Tiguan, due to the safety hazard of the exterior lights, and issued a “recall order” twice in less than 24 hours.

The recall on the 14th was the largest recall of Volkswagen's history in China. In April this year, Volkswagen recalled 380,000 defective cars due to DSG issues. Tencent Auto connected the public relations department of Volkswagen China for the first time. The relevant person in charge said that the recall is mainly for vehicles equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DQ200). Volkswagen China has issued a detailed explanation on the official website to explain the specific reasons for the recall.

13th: Volkswagen recalls some imported Tuway and domestic Tiguan cars

The main reason for this recall is that the synthetic oil used in the vehicle's transmission may cause a fault in the power supply line inside the transmission, which may cause the transmission to malfunction. But Volkswagen China also said that even in this case, the driver can maintain control of the car until safe parking. Therefore, the vehicles involved in the recall can still be used normally.

The vehicle involved in the recall will be actively contacted by the dealer to implement the recall. Volkswagen will replace the gearbox oil of the affected vehicle from synthetic oil to mineral oil for free, and provide users with the latest control software for free. Among them, the oil change process takes about one and a half hours.

Volkswagen said: A large number of research and testing prove that the use of mineral oil to replace synthetic oil can avoid the above problems. At the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year, Hackenberg responded to this question in detail when interviewed by Tencent. The main reason for DSG problems is transmission oil. Transmission oil with high sulfur content is prone to problems.

According to foreign media reports, Volkswagen will recall more than 2.6 million vehicles worldwide, of which about one-third are in China. Its globally recalled models include the 800,000 Tiguan compact sport utility vehicle that was assembled from the beginning of 2008 to mid-2011 due to a fuse problem. There are also at least 1.68 million vehicles recalled for dual clutch transmissions. The vehicles involved in the recall are the five major brands of Volkswagen, including the luxury Audi brand and the core Volkswagen brand passenger car, and this recall is also one of the largest recalls in the history of the public.

Some analysts said that many problems seem to be very minor, and the seriousness of the problem is far lower than Toyota's 1.9 million cars recalled by the "acceleration door" from the end of 2009 to the beginning of 2011. However, analysts believe that any question that challenges reliability and inconvenience to customers is bad news for the company.
