The calcium carbide industry clear the development goals of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan"

According to the 12th China Chlor-alkali Forum held in Ningbo recently, the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" for calcium carbide industry has been determined. In the next five years, the domestic calcium carbide industry will achieve a more rational industrial layout and a gradual optimization of its organizational structure. Technological equipment, energy-saving and emission reduction levels have been significantly improved, and four major goals for the production and sales of calcium carbide have been achieved.

According to Sun Weishan, secretary general of the China Association for Calcium Carbide Industry, China's calcium carbide industry is showing rapid and steady development. According to statistics, in 2010, there were 384 calcium carbide producers in China with a total output of 15.12 million tons and an apparent consumption of 14.98 million tons.

The Calcium Carbide Industry Association estimates that the total domestic demand for calcium carbide in 2015 will be approximately 24 million tons, the operating rate will remain at 85%, and the production capacity will be maintained at 28 million tons. Therefore, there is still room for development in China's calcium carbide industry in the future.

To this end, the development goals of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" for the calcium carbide industry are as follows: First, the industrial layout structure is more reasonable. The degree of industrial concentration in the western Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia, central and southern areas of Shanxi, Hebei, Hubei, Hunan, and southwestern Xichuan further increased, and the proportion of calcium carbide production in raw material production areas increased to over 70%. The second is the gradual optimization of corporate organizational structure. By eliminating obsolete and mergers and reorganizations, we will further reduce the number of companies and increase the degree of industrial concentration, significantly increase the production capacity of the top 10 companies in the industry and the proportion in the industry, and form five to eight 1 million tons of calcium carbide production bases. Several integrated industrial bases for "coal-thermoelectricity (coke)-chemicals (calcium carbide-chlorine-alkali, other calcium carbide downstream industries)-construction materials" have been established. Third, the level of technical equipment and energy conservation and emission reduction has increased significantly. The industry’s resources and energy consumption levels have dropped significantly, and the comprehensive energy consumption of calcium carbide unit products has dropped to 1 ton of standard coal. Fourth, the balance between production and sales of calcium carbide to meet market demand. Based on market demand, we will actively develop downstream calcium carbide products and strive to achieve a transition from low value-added to high value-added products in downstream calcium carbide products; reasonably control the growth of calcium carbide production capacity, adhere to the development increment and eliminate backward production capacity to avoid unbalanced production and sales.
