According to official data from Ford Motor Co., Ford sold retail sales of 84,474 vehicles in China in July, down 7% from the same period last year. From January to July, Ford Motor’s cumulative sales in China reached 621,996 units, which was the same as the same period last year.
Chang An Ford Drops Obviously Fox Takes Charge
Ford Motor Co.'s joint venture company in China, Changan Ford, saw a more pronounced decline last month. In July, it sold only 58,288 vehicles, which was 16% lower than the same period of last year. In the first seven months, it sold 418,037 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 17%.
The comparison of the sales volume of Changan Ford’s vehicles can be seen in the fact that Fox’s decline was most noticeable in the previous month. In July, it sold only 11,790 vehicles, a drop of 23%; both Ford Sharp and Forex have dropped sharply, dropping by 21% respectively. 17%, Forreth is Changan Ford's best-selling model. Jiangling Motors sales rose 11% year-on-year in July
Ford Motor Co., another Ford joint venture in China, sold 19,772 vehicles last month, an increase of 11% from the same period last year. In the first seven months, the cumulative sales volume of Jiangling Motors reached 163,253 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 17%.
From the comparison of the sales of each model, despite the 3% drop in sales volume, Jiangling light trucks are still Jiangling’s best-selling models, which sold 6,496 units last month; Ford Transit also suffered a larger decline last month, for a total of 3,003 sold. Lincoln brand rose across the board
The Lincoln brand sold a total of 4,713 vehicles in the Chinese market last month, an increase of 68% compared to the same period of last year; the cumulative sales in the first seven months reached 29,254 units, a year-on-year increase of 92%.
Lincoln MKC sold 1,394 vehicles last month, which is its best-selling model, which is an increase of 10% compared with the same period of last year. Lincoln MKZ doubled its sales last month, increasing by 120%, and sold a total of 1,048 vehicles.
Ford brand imported models rose 24% in July
Ford brand imported models sold a total of 1,701 vehicles in China last month, an increase of 24% year-on-year; the increase from January to July reached 16%, for a total of 11,452 vehicles sold.
Of the imported models, Ford Explorers sold the most last month, and sold a total of 970 vehicles, but it was down 7% compared to the same period last year. Last year, the Ford Mustang increased by 25% year-on-year. A total of 370 Ford Focus ST/RSs were sold for only 23 vehicles last month, while the Ford F-150 Raptors sold 163 vehicles.
