What are the characteristics of grinding processing? What harm is caused by processing?

Grinding is one of the most widely used cutting methods. Compared with other cutting methods, such as turning, milling and planing, it has the following features:

(1) The grinding speed is very high, up to 30m ~ 50m per second; the grinding temperature is high, up to 1000 "C ~ 1500oC; the grinding process is very short, only about one ten-thousandth of a second.

(2) Grinding can obtain high machining accuracy and a small surface roughness value.

(3) Grinding can not only process soft materials such as unhardened steel, cast iron and non-ferrous metals, but also hard materials such as porcelain and hard alloys that cannot be processed by hardened steel and other tools.

(4) The depth of cut during grinding is small, and the metal layer that can be removed in one stroke is thin.

When grinding, a large amount of fine grinding debris is ejected from the grinding wheel, and a large amount of metal shavings are spattered from the workpiece. Grinding debris and metal shavings can cause the operator's eyes to be harmed. Dust that does not inhale into the lungs can also be harmful to the body.

Due to the poor quality of the grinding wheel, poor storage, improper selection of specifications and models, eccentric installation, or excessive feed speed, the grinding wheel may become fragmented during grinding and workers may suffer severe injuries.

When manual operations are performed near a rotating grinding wheel, such as grinding tools, cleaning the workpiece, or grinding wheel correction methods are incorrect, the worker's hand may come into contact with the grinding wheel or other moving parts of the grinder and be injured.

The noise generated during grinding can be up to 110dB or more. If no noise reduction measures are taken, it will also affect health.
