In the middle of this year, the Mapocho Sewage Treatment Plant will be put into production. By that time, San Diego will complete the treatment of sewage and reach a suitable level for irrigation. The project, with an investment of about US$1 billion, will use advanced technology to use the biogas produced in the sewage treatment for thermal energy and electricity supply.
