Russian suppliers expect potash prices to rise

The Russian fertilizer manufacturer Ural Potash Corp. recently stated that they expect global demand for potassium chloride to exceed pre-crisis levels in 2011 and that its growth trend will continue into 2012.

The demand for potash in 2011 will exceed 54.9 million tons in 2010, reaching 57 million to 58 million tons. In 2012, the market demand is expected to reach 60 million to 62 million tons.

Due to the limited supply, the demand for potash in the world market has always been strong. Russia has concentrated 33% of the world's potassium reserves.

Ural Potash Corp also stated that rising prices and demand for agricultural products will be the driving force behind the increase in fertilizer prices.

The Belarusian potash company also previously announced that the price of potash fertilizers for Southeast Asia supply from June 2011 will increase from the previous US$460 per ton to US$510. Not long ago, the company had increased the price of fertilizers exported to Brazil by 50 US dollars.
