The Henan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology has revealed that the province will phase out lagging production capacity of 158 companies in 2011. The Henan Provincial Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the Energy Planning and Construction Bureau jointly prepared the Henan Province's 2011 elimination of backward production capacity plan, and preliminary plans for the outdated production capacity of 15 industries and 158 enterprises to be phased out this year, excluding electricity and ironmaking. In addition to the backward production capacity in the steelmaking, electrolytic aluminum, and ferroalloy industries, it also includes 2.1 million tons of backward coke production capacity, 126,000 tons of alcohol, 41,800 tons of MSG, 0.25 million tons of citric acid, 0.41 million sheets of leather, and 160,000 tons of chemicals.
