Beijing Hyundai's third plant has 400,000 capacity put into operation in 2012

Hyundai Motor announced on its official website in the English language last week that Beijing Hyundai will establish a new factory with an annual capacity of 400,000 vehicles in China.

The newly constructed factory will be the third factory of Beijing Hyundai in China, which will increase Beijing Hyundai's annual production capacity from the current 600,000 to 1 million. The new factory is still located in the Shunyi District of Beijing and is 20 kilometers away from the Beijing No. 2 Modern Factory. Hyundai said that the new plant will start construction in October this year and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2012. "Because of the use of more advanced technology, Beijing Hyundai's third plant will have more advanced equipment than the second plant," said Lu Jianwan, general manager of Beijing Hyundai.

It is understood that Beijing Hyundai's existing two factories are located in Shunyi District, with a total capacity of 600,000 vehicles. Beijing Hyundai’s sales target for this year is 670,000 units. The lack of capacity has affected the rapid development of Beijing’s modernization. Beijing Hyundai achieved a cumulative sales volume of 2 million vehicles in April this year. It is estimated that in 2012, its cumulative sales can reach 4 million.
