At the same time, the employees of the Dresden factory will not be unemployed, they will be transferred to the Golf and Passat production line of the Volkswagen Zwickau factory to continue working.
The Phaeton is a top-class luxury sedan launched by the Volkswagen Group. It is built on the same platform as the Audi A8 and Bentley Continental GT. The car was officially mass-produced in 2002 and is quite eye-catching due to its all-aluminum body structure and hand-built features. . However, the high price caused by the low-key shape and manufacturing cost of Phaeton has made the car's sales volume not meet the expectations of the public.
The closure of the Phaeton line in March 2016 does not mean the end of the Phaeton. According to previous reports, as part of Volkswagen's new strategy for the future after the “Emissions Gate” incident, the new generation Phaeton will be launched as soon as 2019 or 2020, and a version with a pure electric system will be introduced.
